Role Overview: Surveying Engineer As the primary quality control authority on surveying activities, you will ensure that construction layouts, control point verification, and topographical data comply with international engineering standards and local regulations. Your technical oversight will be critical in managing measurement accuracy throughout the project lifecycle, particularly in road and bridge construction. Key Responsibilities in Surveying Engineer Jobs in Lusaka Develop and maintain engineering survey plans and calibration schedules for measuring instruments. Monitor survey management implementation by project teams and report progress to the lead engineer. Inspect qualifications of surveyors and ensure surveying instruments meet calibration and regulatory standards. Oversee proper storage and maintenance of surveying equipment and report any discrepancies. Conduct re-measurements and supervise maintenance of permanent control points on-site. Verify the accuracy of surveying and layout work, ensuring compliance with documentation and contractual specifications. Perform ongoing measurement verification to guarantee error-free elevation and axis control throughout construction. Require immediate rectification of non-compliant work, document original data and rework procedures, and report findings. Review and verify control points in design documentation before project commencement, managing additions or corrections as needed. Attend on-site meetings for changes in subgrade or elevation and maintain original survey data. Maintain detailed measurement logs, update daily progress, and respond to supervisory feedback. Organize project archives, including photos and videos, ensuring secure storage and backup. Participate actively in departmental meetings, training sessions, and team-building activities. Candidate Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Measurement Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in large-scale civil engineering or road and bridge construction projects. Valid membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ). Proficient knowledge of project management methodologies applicable to road and bridge construction, including quality, schedule, and safety management. Familiarity with technical specifications for road and bridge engineering in China and Zambia, plus preliminary understanding of FIDIC contract clauses. Expertise in modern surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GNSS/RTK, and Digital Levels, including calibration management. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, specialized surveying software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong innovative mindset with the ability to propose improvements and implement new technologies. Excellent communication skills, including clear information sharing, active listening, and conflict resolution.
