MULTIPLE POSITIONS NFC Africa Mining PLC (Chambishi Mine), an international mining company with its core business being the development of non-ferrous metals and mineral resources in Zambia. In our quest to continue supplementing Government effort by creating more local jobs, we seek to employ suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to fill the vacant positions below: BLASTING ENGINEER (x1) Job Purpose To safely and efficiently break rock to the required fragmentation, while minimizing damage, cost and environmental impact. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Calculate burden, depth, diameter, charge weight and timing sequence. Choose the right type of explosives and detonators for a specific job. Prepare cost of material, labour & equipment for blasting operations. Ensure all work follows explosives/mining regulations. Obtain license for storage, transport & use of explosives. Develop blasting plans, warning procedures & emergency response plans. Oversee drill patterns & hole quality. Oversee loading of explosives & connection of detonation systems. Check for misfires, fly rocks & environmental impact. Monitor ground vibrations & noise impact. Train drillers, blasters & site crew on explosive handling and safety. Document results & adjust future blast designs to improve yield & reduce costs. QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 minimum requirement for all applicants. Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering. Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in open pit or underground drill and blast operations. Must have a valid blasting license. Paid up Member of EIZ. Expertise in vibration monitoring and fragmentation assessments. Strong understanding of mining/explosives regulations. ROCK MECHANICS ENGINEER (x1) Job Purpose To ensure stability, safety and economy of all excavations in rock during mining and tunneling. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Plan & oversee geotechnical drilling. Conduct mapping of joints, faults & fractures. Analyse the stability of modelled underground openings using Rock Mechanics modern software. Design rock bolts, cable bolts & mesh for support. Assess risks of rock falls. Ensure designs meet mining codes & safety regulations. Investigate failures such as rock falls. Advise on appropriate excavation methods. Prepare weekly/monthly geotechnical reports. Prepare estimation for ground support & instrumentation. Train site crew on ground support standards & hazard recognition. QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 School Certificate. Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering. Must have at least 5 years’ experience in mining. Experience in undertaking geotechnical analysis utilizing rock mass classification systems and structure analysis. Must have an understanding of cut and fill mining method. Must be a member of a recognizable professional institute. CHIEF SURVEYOR (x1) Job Purpose To provide accurate, timely and legally compliant data and to enable safe, efficient design and operation of a project. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop programs and schedules for both underground and surface projects. Comply with and enforce the requirements of government mining regulations and survey standards. Ensure pits, tunnels are set out to design. Process raw data using software like AutoCAD. Monitor and control all underground excavations and issue holding notices in accordance with mining regulations. Measure and determine advances and/or volumes of ore underground excavations. Prepare mining layouts and plans for all underground and surface excavations. Prepare weekly/monthly survey reports. Carry out periodical or yearly volumetric computations for ore reserves and resources estimation. Manage, train & supervise surveyors/technicians. QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 School Certificate. Diploma/Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics Engineering. At least 5 years’ proven experience in underground mine surveying. Proficiency with surveying tools such as Leica instruments, Deswik, or similar survey software. Experience in producing stope CMS scans and monitoring underground control networks. Must have an understanding of cut and fill mining methods. Must be a member of a recognizable professional institute. SURVEYOR (x6) JOB PURPOSE He /she will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements such as procedures and legal regulations regarding safety, health and quality of work as required by the company. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Carrying out underground surveys as required /requested according to the design using the Total stations, Levels, inclinometers etc. Data collection of 3D profiles, cross sections and all survey related Underground data as well as surface data. Maintaining and establishing primary & secondary control points both underground and surface. Carry out all surface surveys such as shaft monitoring, mapping and all survey related tasks. Providing necessary training and development of subordinates as required & requested by the company. Maintenance of surveying equipment to required standards. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 Certificate. A Degree or Diploma in Geomatics/ Surveying qualification from a recognized institution. Minimum of 2 years work experience in the mining sector. A holder of a practicing license from a Professional Body.
