Assistant Registrar – Faculty of Medicine Location: Lusaka, Zambia Job Type: Full Time Application Deadline: 4th July 2026 The Assistant Registrar will support the Registrar in managing faculty-level academic and administrative functions to ensure smooth university operations. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and integrity. Key Responsibilities Coordinate communication between students and the Dean’s office. Maintain and update student records including registration, attendance, grades, and academic progress with confidentiality. Supervise student registration, admissions, examination administration, and general academic affairs within the faculty. Manage records for students and staff, including qualifications and teaching schedules, and prepare weekly reports. Liaise with faculty members on curriculum development, program evaluation, accreditation, and student affairs. Perform secretarial duties during faculty meetings and assist with academic event organization such as orientation and graduation. Attend Graduation Ceremony Committee meetings and respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and external stakeholders. Engage in professional development and participate in committees to improve faculty service quality. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 certificate with at least five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science, or equivalent. Degree in MBChB or a relevant Social Science discipline. All academic qualifications must be validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA). Minimum of two years’ relevant experience in the medical field. Opportunities for Registered Nurses LAMU also seeks experienced Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive nursing care at the Apex Diagnostic Clinic. This role involves patient screening, treatment administration, counselling, and health education within a dynamic clinical environment. Primary Duties Manage patient files and issue identification cards. Screen outpatients by measuring vital signs and referring to medical officers as needed. Administer prescribed treatments including medication, injections, IV therapy, wound care, and emergency interventions. Conduct HIV counselling and testing, and manage PMTCT bookings for expectant mothers. Lead antenatal clinics, providing psychological support and health education to pregnant women. Escort and attend to referred patients during transit, especially emergency cases. Ensure sterilization of medical equipment and maintain hygienic standards. Deliver health talks on nutrition, breastfeeding, and pregnancy-related topics. Secure and manage patient medical records responsibly. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors. Required Qualifications Grade 12 certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science, or equivalent. Degree or Diploma in Nursing. Valid practising license from the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ). All qualifications must be validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA). At least three years of relevant nursing experience, including exposure to HIV voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) and management.
