Motor Assessor
NICO Insurance Zambia Limited, a general insurance company, has been operating in Zambia since 1st October 1997 and has branches in Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Livingstone and Chipata. NICO Insurance Zambia Limited is a member of the NICO Group of Companies operating in Malawi. The Company is seeking to identify a suitably qualified and experienced individual to be engaged as: MOTOR ASSESSOR Main Purpose of the Job To assess motor vehicle damages and determine repair costs in line with Company policies and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely processing of claims while maintaining high standards of customer service and cost control. Main Duties and Responsibilities Conduct inspections of damaged motor vehicles to assess the extent of loss. Evaluate repair quotations and determine fair and reasonable settlement values. Prepare detailed and accurate assessment reports for claims processing. Liaise with clients, brokers, garages, and internal teams to ensure efficient claims handling. Monitor vehicle repairs to ensure quality standards and adherence to approved costs. Identify and escalate potentially fraudulent claims. Provide technical advice on vehicle repairs, parts, and valuations. Ensure assessments are completed within agreed turnaround times and service standards. Maintain proper documentation and records of all assessments conducted. Qualifications and Experience Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in motor assessment or a similar role, preferably within the insurance industry. Sound knowledge of motor vehicle systems, repair processes, and costing. Experience working with motor garages and service providers. Skills and Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. High level of integrity and professionalism. Customer-focused approach. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel for report writing, data analysis, and documentation.
