A Health and Safety Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. The officer identifies workplace hazards, ensures compliance with health and safety laws, and supports employees in following safe work practices. ### Key Responsibilities – Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments. – Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. – Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies and procedures. – Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety laws and regulations. – Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses. – Prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures. – Provide health and safety training and orientation to employees. – Conduct emergency drills, including fire and evacuation drills. – Maintain health and safety records, permits, and inspection reports. – Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). – Work with managers and employees to improve safety standards. – Liaise with regulatory authorities, contractors, and other relevant parties. – Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization. ### Qualifications and Requirements – Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, or a related field. – Professional health and safety certification is an advantage, such as: – First Aid and CPR certification – Two or more years of experience in a health and safety position is preferred. (Construction and Manufacturing) – Good knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and Manufacturing) Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations. – Strong communication, report-writing, and presentation skills. – Good problem-solving and organizational abilities. – Attention to detail and the ability to work independently. – Ability to train and advise employees at all levels. – Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. – Physical ability to inspect work areas and use required safety equipment. ### Personal Qualities – Responsible and safety-conscious – Professional and approachable – Proactive and observant – Honest and trustworthy – Able to work under pressure – Strong leadership and teamwork skills Application email: job.application.072023@gmail.comRequirements
