About Zambia National Education Coalition (ZANEC) ZANEC is a coalition comprising 97 NGOs, teacher unions, faith-based organisations, community-based organisations, and civil society organisations dedicated to advocating for inclusive and high-quality education across Zambia. As the foremost civil society voice on education policy, ZANEC plays a critical role in shaping national strategies, policies, and budget allocations to improve educational outcomes. Role Overview for Executive Director Jobs in Lusaka Reporting directly to the Board Chair, the Executive Director will provide visionary leadership to ZANEC’s Secretariat and spearhead the coalition’s national advocacy efforts. This role demands strategic direction-setting, coalition growth, and ensuring the organisation’s financial sustainability to amplify its impact on Zambia’s education sector. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Develop and guide ZANEC’s advocacy on education policy, financing, equity, and quality. Oversee annual planning and impact reporting processes. Coalition Building: Enhance member engagement and coordinate collaborative campaigns across diverse civil society stakeholders. Resource Mobilisation: Lead efforts to secure and manage grants from bilateral, multilateral, and foundation donors, including proposal development. External Relations: Represent ZANEC in engagements with government ministries, donors, and regional and global networks. Organisational Oversight: Manage Secretariat staff, oversee financial and compliance matters, and support effective Board governance. Qualifications and Experience Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. Minimum of five years’ senior leadership experience within NGOs, demonstrating evidence-based advocacy and coalition management. Proven track record of successfully raising funds from a variety of donors. Comprehensive knowledge of Zambia’s education sector, including policy, equity, financing, and research. Ability to effectively influence senior government officials and donor representatives. Strong leadership, communication, and member coordination skills.
